A trip to Norway is an experience of a lifetime, with the opportunity to see the Northern Lights dance across the sky, the Sami culture vibrant and alive, and a landscape that is nothing short of a winter wonderland. Day 1 – Relax and Recharge!
Your adventure begins as soon as you get off the plane and meet your private driver, who will be waiting to bring you to your destination. As you settle in on your first day, you'll receive a welcome package that includes a city map, train tickets (if applicable), and any other touristic tips and info to help you make the most of your journey.
Day 2 – Hit the Trails and Meet the Pack!
Just 25 minutes from the town of Tromso by coach is the Tromso Wilderness Center, where you’ll get to travel across the snow-covered ground with a team of energetic Alaskan huskies, enjoying impressive views over local mountains and sea. You’ll board a sled driven by a guide, but with advance notice, and if the conditions allow it, you can even drive the sled yourself!
You’ll be out on the trails for about an hour, followed by a visit to the dog yard to meet the adorable husky puppies! Warm, insulated clothing will be provided for your adventure, and you’ll also be served a traditional Sami meal followed by coffee and homemade cake, served around an open fire in a Sami tent.
Day 3 – Nurtured by Nature
Get ready to immerse yourself in Sami culture like never before with a variety of activities! Experience the oldest form of transportation in the North with reindeer sledding, and learn about the history and culture of the Sami people. Try lasso-throwing, a traditional method still used today to catch reindeer for marking.
Embark on a snowmobiling safari through 18 miles of beautiful winter trails at the Lyngsfjord Adventure Center, just 75 minutes southeast of Tromso. Borrow a pair of snowshoes and explore the breathtaking winter landscape at your own leisure around the base camp.
Day 4 – Lose Yourself in Nature
Embark on a spectacular small-group snowshoe trek on Kvaloya, Norway's fourth largest island, and explore the stunning winter landscapes of the Norwegian North.
Experience the magic of the Northern Lights from a unique and breathtaking perspective - the deck of a specially-equipped polar catamaran, where light pollution fades into the dark sea. Glide across protected sea waters as you search for the perfect spot to view the magical Northern Lights. Enjoy a traditional fish dinner prepared with locally-sourced ingredients, served with warm beverages and fresh desserts, immersing yourself in Norwegian culinary culture. And rest easy knowing warm clothes will be provided for this unforgettable adventure.
Day 5 – Experience the Arctic Wilderness at the SnowHotel
Board a direct flight from Tromsø to Kirkenes, which is only a 1 hour and 15-minute flight! Your destination? The SnowHotel – a unique and unforgettable place to stay. Immerse yourself in the winter wonderland of Norway, where the hotel itself is a work of art sculpted from snow and ice.
Day 6 – Catch and Cook Your Own King Crab in Arctic Norway
Day 6 will be a highlight of your Arctic Norway adventure as you head out with a group along with master guides on a snowmobile sledge onto the snow-covered fjord to catch the red King Crab. This is your chance to catch, learn how to cook, and eat the Arctic King Crab – the largest and most delicious shellfish in the world.
You'll help saw the hole in the ice, bring up the catch, and then see how your expert guide prepares it. Then, you'll travel by a snowmobile sledge to a beautiful farmhouse by the lake, where a cozy log fire awaits you and your freshly caught King Crab meal. It's an unforgettable experience that will leave you with a newfound appreciation for the Arctic and its culinary delights.
Day 7 – A Thrilling Snowmobile Ride Through Norway's Arctic Wilderness
Experience the rush of adrenaline as you ride through the snowy terrain of Norway's Arctic wilderness on a state-of-the-art snowmobile. Enjoy a private transfer from your hotel to an old Norwegian farmhouse, where you'll be geared up with warm protective clothing and given a lesson on how to use a snowmobile.
With a private guide leading the way, you'll journey through the stunning winter landscapes of Norway with stops for photo opportunities. You’ll ride with two people per snowmobile, so you’ll get to take turns driving and being a passenger (valid driver’s license required), all while soaking in the breathtaking scenery of the Arctic wilderness.
Day 8 – A Bittersweet Goodbye to a Winter Wonderland
As you head to the airport and your incredible journey in Norway comes to an end, you’ll reflect on the unforgettable experiences you've had and the memories you’ll cherish forever.
